Uttaranchal University was founded in 2013 by the Uttarakhand Legislature through the Uttaranchal University Act 2012 (Uttarakhand Act No. 11 of 2013). The university is recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under sections 2 (f) and 12 (B) of the UGC 1950 and other National and State governing bodies.  UU is NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council) accredited with Grade A+ & created a history by receiving a NAAC accreditation A+ Grade in the first cycle of accreditation.

UU ranked 5th position Nationally & 25th position Internationally by Times Higher Education World Impact Rankings (A United Kingdom based World Ranking Agency) under UNSDG Goal 7- Affordable & Clean Energy. The university is also listed in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 and the WURI Rankings in 2022, 2023 and 2024 consecutively.

Admission and Scholarships

• The Uttaranchal university admission is based on the merit and entrance basis.
• A candidate has to apply through the application form.
• The application starts with filling the basic details of a student, the registration amount with other details of a candidate.
• Students must have to check the eligibility criteria before applying to the university.
• There are Merit Scholarships, Uttarakhand State Domicile scholarship, Hill State Domicile Scholarship, Alumni Scholarship, Siblings Scholarship, Sushila Devi Scholarship and more.
• Candidates will get 10-30% off in the merit scholarship but no scholarship available in MBA Executive, Bsc Nursing, Diploma & Certification in Hotel Management.
• In Uttarakhand State Domicile Scholarship, a candidate can avail 25% on tuition fees & 25% seats were reserved for students.
• 25% scholarship on the Hill State Domicile in India includes Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Sikkim, Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, District Darjeeling, Kalimpong (West Bengal).
• Sushila Devi Scholarship is also provided to the girls students 5% on net tuition fees  for both Uttarakhand and all India category.

• Scholarship to Siblings provides 10% off in the tuition fee for the first year only.
• A student can avail only one scholarship, he/she has to opt one scholarship at the time of admission. 
• A candidate must submit the affidavit signed by the parents or legal guardians to accept the rules or regulations of the scholarship. 
• The scholarship is provided on the basis of verification of the documents, if the documents were wrong then the university can cancel the scholarship.
